BIHS Hospital Visitors Facilities

BIHSH Hospital recognizes the importance of family and friends during an illness and each unit strives to provide flexible opportunities for visitors. General visiting hours are unrestricted, but may vary according to a patient's specific condition, treatment, or location within the hospital (i.e., ICU, Behavioral Health). See the nursing staff for details. Children under the age of 12 may be permitted to visit patients through special arrangement with the nurse in charge of the patient's care, and should be closely supervised. Please be considerate of other patients when visitors are present by limiting the amount of people and the noise level during visits.
Visitors must be in good health and should wash their hands before visiting. Before entering the patient's room, check for infection control/isolation signs posted on the outside of the door. Check with the patient's nurse to see if you need to wear a gown, gloves, or a mask while in the room

Car Parking

All patients and visitors have access to the hospital's paid parking lot and garages. Upon entering, patients and visitors will receive parking tickets with a stamped time. You will be charged for time that your car is on campus between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend parking is free. Valet parking is also available for a fee.

Smooking

In order to promote health, control the practice of smoking where it presents a health or fire hazard to patients, employees or the general public, and comply with Maryland State Law, smoking is not permitted in any area of the hospital. In November 2007, BIHSH in making our campuses tobacco-free, meaning that tobacco use is not permitted inside BIHSH Hospital buildings, on our parking lots, or anywhere on or around the facility grounds.
BIHSH Hospital has been dedicated to improving the health of those we serve and creating a supportive workplace where our staff can be successful. Going tobacco-free is another way we live out these goals and promote a healthy environment for all of our patients, visitors, volunteers, physicians, contract staff, and employees.

Hospital Visiting Hours

We request that visitors be limited to two (2) per bedside at a time. If there are special circumstances, please speak with the patient's nurse.

Intensive/Special Care Units

Only immediate family members or other persons with a close relationship with the patient may visit in these units. Please use the visitor phones outside each unit to call for permission to enter.

Hours:

• 9:00 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. (15 minutes only)
• 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
• 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
• 8:30 P.M. to 8:45 P.M. (15 minutes only)
